===== 1. Install the app =====

  * **iPhone / iPad:** search for “Explority” in the App Store.
  * **Android:** search for “Explority” in the Google Play Store.
  * **Mac / Windows / browser:** Explority also runs on computers. Some features aren't available there (e.g. widgets or the ID scanner) – see [[en:platforms|iPhone, Android & more]].

The app follows your device language (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish) and your system's light or dark appearance.

===== 2. First launch =====

On first launch, Explority shows you a few cards about what the app can do. After that you have two options:

| **Sign in / Register** | Your trips are backed up in the cloud, synced across all your devices and can be shared with others. **Recommended.** |
| **Skip** | You use the app without an account. Everything stays on this device only. You can sign in any time later – your local trips will then be uploaded. |

==== Ways to sign in ====

  * **Email and password** – after registering you receive an email. Confirm your address with the **6-digit code** from the email or via the link. A new account can't be used until it's confirmed. No email? Check your spam folder or tap “resend” after a short wait.
  * **Sign in with Google**
  * **Sign in with Apple** (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
  * **Sign-in link by email** – no password: you get a link that signs you in directly.

**Forgot your password?** Choose “Forgot password” on the sign-in screen – you'll receive an email to reset it.

==== Joining a group trip without an account ====

If you've received a **join link or code** for a school or club trip, you **don't need an account**: enter your name once and you're in. If you create an account later, your memberships are kept. More: [[en:joining_a_group_trip|Joining a group trip]].

===== 3. The home screen =====

After signing in you see the home screen:

  * **Your trips** as cards with cover photos – ongoing and upcoming trips first. The **“New trip”** card starts a new plan.
  * **Today** – while a trip is running, you see today's programme. Use **“Quick expense”** to record what you paid in seconds.
  * **Notices**, e.g. open invitations (envelope icon) or a passport that expires soon (from the [[en:travel_documents|vault]]).
  * Access to **Tools** and **Settings**.

===== 4. Your first trip in 5 minutes =====

  - Tap **“New trip”**.
  - Select your **travel dates** in the calendar.
  - Search for your **destination** (e.g. “Lisbon”). For round trips add several destinations and set the arrival day for each.
  - Choose a **cover photo** (suggestions matching your destination, or your own photo) and name your trip.
  - Done – the trip “builds itself”: first the route on the map, then photo and plan.
  - Tap **“+”** on a day to add your first activity, e.g. your **flight**: flight number and date are enough – times and airports are filled in automatically.

===== 5. Good to know =====

  * **For free** you can plan up to **2 trips at the same time**. Past trips and group trips don't count. Details: [[en:premium|Free & Premium]].
  * **Offline:** whatever has been loaded is available without internet. Features that need a connection (e.g. flight search) are greyed out offline and explain why when tapped. → [[en:offline_and_sync|Offline & sync]]
  * **Help in the app:** many screens have a **“?”** at the top with a short explanation. Tips can be shown again from the settings.
