====== Joining a group trip ======

This guide is for **students, parents and fellow travellers** who have received a **link**, **QR code** or **join code** from their trip leaders (e.g. teacher, club, tour operator).

===== Join in 3 steps =====

  - **Install the app:** get “Explority” from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
  - **Join** – depending on what you received:
    * **Link:** just tap it – the app opens with the trip.
    * **QR code:** in the app tap the **envelope icon** (Invitations) at the top of the home screen → **“Join with a code”** → scan the code.
    * **Code** (e.g. ''ABCD-1234''): also under **envelope icon → “Join with a code”**, type it in. Hyphens and spaces don't matter.
  - **Check the preview** (trip, dates, your role) and tap **Join**. Without an account you enter your **name** once.

Done – the trip appears on your home screen.

**No account?** No problem. You can use the trip without signing in. If you want an account later (e.g. to use the app on a second device), sign in from the settings – your trips are kept.

**Trip full?** Then you're put on the **waitlist** and move up automatically when a place becomes free.

===== What to do next =====

In the trip, the **“Your to-dos”** card shows what's still open:

  * **Fill in your details** – emergency contact, allergies, diet, consents. The leaders need them in case of emergency. (The trip leaders decide which items are asked.)
  * **Confirm messages** when the leaders ask for a read confirmation.
  * **Settle open payments**.

And: **allow notifications** so you don't miss messages and itinerary changes.

===== For parents =====

  * Join with the **parents' code**. You see the **itinerary** and the leaders' **messages** but don't take a seat.
  * The trip leaders can **link your account to your child**. You can then fill in **your child's details** (emergency contact, allergies, consents) and see their booking details (e.g. room).
  * You don't see the finances or other participants' details.

===== What you see and can do as a participant =====

  * The **shared itinerary** (read only), map and day plan.
  * **Your own private activities** and a **private checklist** – only you see them.
  * Tick off the **group checklist** for yourself.
  * In finances **your share** of the group costs and **your own expenses**.
  * Your own booking details (seat, room, ticket).

===== Your data =====

  * Your details are visible **only to you, linked parents and the trip leaders**.
  * You can **delete** them yourself at any time (“Delete my data in this trip”).
  * After the trip they are **deleted automatically** (usually 30 days after the trip ends).

===== Problems? =====

| “Invalid code” | Check the code carefully or ask the leaders for a new one – old codes stop working when new ones are created. |
| Link doesn't open the app | Install the app first, then tap the link again – or enter the code manually. |
| Trip doesn't appear | Check your internet connection; the trip is downloaded after joining. |
| No notifications | Allow notifications for Explority in your system settings and in the app (Settings → Notifications → Group trips). |
