Travel documents (vault)

Travel documents is a protected vault for your personal documents: passport, ID card, driving licence, visa, vaccination certificate, insurance card. You'll find it under Tools → Travel documents (in some app versions still labelled “Reiseunterlagen”).

• Only on your device. Documents are not uploaded to the cloud and not shared with anyone.
• Stored encrypted.
• Locked with Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint or your device passcode. Without a screen lock set up, the vault stays closed.
• Locks automatically as soon as the app goes to the background (otherwise after 2 minutes).
• On Android, screenshots are blocked inside the vault.
• The vault is free – deliberately without a Premium restriction.

1. Tap Add and choose the type (e.g. passport).
2. Scan: the camera shows a frame in ID-card format. Place the document inside (for passports, the zone with the «< characters at the bottom in the band) and take the picture.
3. On-device text recognition reads name, number, country, issue and expiry date. Nothing is sent to the internet for this.
4. Check, complete, save.

You can also fill in fields by hand and store photos of front and back.

• Documents appear as cards in ID format; numbers are masked until you tap them.
• Expiry warning: if a document expires soon, the home screen shows a notice – without opening the vault. Within a trip Explority also checks whether your passport is valid 6 months beyond the end of the trip (many countries require this).
• Filter by holder if you manage documents for your family.

Because nothing is in the cloud, back up your documents yourself: Back up creates a password-encrypted file (.evault). On the new device import it with the same password. Without the password the file cannot be opened – please remember it.

• In the browser (web version) there is no vault.
• On Mac/Windows it works without scanner and text recognition.
