Multi-day journeys

🇩🇪 Deutsche Version · ← Overview

A multi-day journey is an activity spanning several days that consists of sections – one place per section and often a new place to stay every night.

Four kinds

Kind Example Sections are …
Hike (multi-day tour) hut-to-hut tour, long-distance trail, pilgrimage stages with walking time, km, elevation
Cruise Mediterranean, fjords embarkation, ports, sea days, disembarkation
Sailing trip Croatia, Baltic Sea legs in nautical miles, berths
Road trip US west coast, Iceland ring road driving stages with driving time, vehicle and passengers

Creating one

  1. In the trip tap “+” → “Multi-day trip” and choose the kind.
  2. Fill in the frame: name, dates, starting point and the details of that kind (e.g. ship, cabin, deck – or vehicle and fuel).
  3. The app creates one section per day. Tap a section and enter the destination – the start is automatically the previous day's destination.
  4. Distance, duration and route are calculated (hiking or car routing, at sea the direct line).

Editing sections

  • Times: start and end; with a known duration the app calculates the arrival. For hikes the walking time is estimated from distance and elevation (DIN 33466) unless you enter it yourself.
  • Change the start: if a section starts somewhere other than the previous destination, set the start manually – and link it again later.
  • Split: two stages on the same day? Split a section.
  • Break / sea day / shore leave: sections without a change of place; for cruises shore leave yes/no and “all aboard” 30 minutes before departure.
  • Link accommodation: connect the night after the section to a hotel of the trip.
  • Import GPX: a recorded or planned track sets route, distance and elevation.
  • Documents and costs per section – e.g. the hut booking right on the section.
  • Delete: the section disappears, predecessor and successor are joined.

The app warns you if an arrival would be after dark or a drive takes longer than 6 hours.

Combining single activities

If you've already created several hikes or car trips on consecutive days, Explority offers to combine them into one multi-day journey. Documents are carried over.

In the itinerary

Each section appears on its day as its own entry; on other days the journey runs along as a slim line (“Port 3/8 · Bergen”). The day plan only shows that day's route.

Free / Premium

For free you can edit 3 sections; from the 4th section you need Premium (or a group trip). → Free & Premium
